Erica holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice from The Pennsylvania State University and is currently working toward her master’s at the University of Toronto, studying with Daniel Taylor. She’s also a proud recipient of the Voces8 scholarship, showing her dedication to musical excellence and growth.
Performance Experience
Want to learn from someone with real stage experience? Erica made her operatic debut as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro and has shone in roles like Sister Constance (Dialogues of the Carmelites), Despina (Così fan tutte), Leontine (L’amant Anonyme), and Emmie (Albert Herring). She’s also brought to life characters such as Poppea in L’incoronazione di Poppea and Alcina in Alcina during scene work.
Professional Development and Special Training
When she’s not in the studio or on stage, Erica loves to keep learning! She’s attended standout summer programs like the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute, the Paris International Music Academy, and Musiktage am Rhein in Germany (where she even performed regionally). Erica has also learned from the legendary Dame Emma Kirkby, an icon in early music.

With a genuine passion for the piano, Gordon welcomes students of all ages and skill levels. He believes that learning music should be fun and inspiring, and is dedicated to helping each student discover the excitement and joy of making music.

Gordon holds a music degree from the University of Toronto. He specializes in classical piano, but also brings enthusiasm and expertise to contemporary and pop styles. Gordon helps students prepare for all levels of RCM piano exams, setting them up for achievement and musical growth.
Musical Journey
Gordon began his own piano adventure at age eight and was already performing by twelve. He has won multiple gold and platinum awards at Kiwanis music festivals, and has been recognized as both the best junior and senior performer in his category. His love for music has taken him to competitions and summer schools across Rome, Venice, London, Somerset, and Indiana, offering him a world of experience to share with his students.
Professional Qualifications and Mentorship
In 2018, Gordon earned his RCM (Royal Conservatory) A.R.C.T diploma with honors. He has studied with renowned teachers including Maia Vimboule, Vadim Gladkov, Rustem Kudoyarov, Noriko Ogawa, and Jamie Parker, and has gained valuable insights from Edward Auer, Winston Choi, Nohee Kwak, William Godfrey, Matthew Souter, and John Byrne.

Meet Jay Merrow
When it comes to music, Jay Merrow does it all—guitar, piano, ukulele, bass, drums, songwriting, and rock bands. He welcomes students of any level for guitar, bass, and ukulele, and jumps in with beginners on piano and intermediate drums. Lessons with Jay are laid-back, energetic, and always inspiring—he leads by example and keeps the vibe fun.
Teaching Experience
With a career spanning over 24 years, Jay has mentored hundreds of musicians in styles ranging from rock and pop to classical, jazz, and acoustic. His approach is anything but ordinary: he designs custom programs to fit each student’s goals and interests. If you’re having fun, you’re learning—that’s the philosophy Jay brings to every lesson.

Jay’s been rocking out on the guitar for almost three decades, performing with bands and making music his entire life. He’s a University of Windsor grad with an honours degree in classical guitar and composition, bringing serious chops and creative flair to everything he does.

Gwenna F

Gwenna loves teaching students of all ages how to sing and play piano! Her students love her encouraging and fun personality!
Gwenna believes in the power of the arts as a catalyst for community building and social change and strives to make sure everyone has access to creative experiences, regardless of location or circumstance. She wrote the curriculum and continues to consult for and teach “Learn English Through Song,” at The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall that facilitates language learning and community building for newcomer women through singing. Through her work at Opera Omaha, she created and facilitated programming for over 15 community partners. She is a four-time recipient of Grants in support of music and drama programming for kids in four communities in Nunavut. She has also worked as a teaching artist and consulted on curriculum development for education programming at the Canadian Opera Company and Pacific Opera Victoria. Gwenna has facilitated conversations and workshops about Teaching Artistry for Opera America and The Association for Opera in Canada, as well as many universities.
Canadian soprano and teaching artist Gwenna holds an M.Mus in Opera (University of Toronto) and a B.Mus in Voice Performance (Western University). She recently completed the Holland Community Opera Fellowship at Opera Omaha. Gwenna was a recipient of an Encouragement Award at the Nebraska District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in December 2020 and is a 2022 recipient of a grant from the Jaqueline Desmarais Foundation for Young Opera Singers. Recent performance highlights Opera Outdoors and Opera to Go (Opera Omaha), originating the role of Nature in Cries of the Earth (Artsong Collaborative Project), Berta in The Barber of Seville (Indian River Festival, Stratford Summer Music), Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte (Toronto Lyric Opera Centre / Toronto Mozart Players), and Soprano Soloist in Beethoven Symphony No. 9 (London Symphonia, Durham Youth Orchestra). This summer, Gwenna looks forward to premiering new works with the Artsong Collaborative Project.

Tom isn’t just a music teacher—he’s a full-on music adventurer! He’s jammed on stage with bands like Jane’s Party, Shad, Dwayne Gretzky, and Devin Cuddy Band, and laid down tracks with artists like Andrew Hyatt and Ferraro. He writes music for movies and TV (how cool is that?)—you might have heard his work on Akilla’s Escape, Kim’s Convenience, or even Hockey Night in Canada. He also creates colorful posters and album artwork for bands like Sam Roberts Band and Heavyweights Brass Band. Plus, Tom produces, mixes, and directs music videos for his own band, Jane’s Party. There’s never a dull moment when you’re learning with someone this creative!

Tom has a Master’s degree in jazz guitar from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Education from York University—so you know you’re in good hands. He’s a faculty member at Humber College and has taught students at Bloor West Music Studios for years.

Natalya G

Natalya loves teaching voice and piano to students of all ages. If you love variety, you’re in the right place! Whether you want to rock out to heavy metal, belt out musical theater hits, dive into pop anthems, or unravel the elegance of classical music, I’m here for your musical adventure. My piano skills are all about building a fun foundation (I can teach up to grade 4), with plenty of tips and tricks to help your fingers dance across the keys. We’ll cover not just the how, but the why—exploring music theory, history, and all the quirky secrets that make music magic.
I love working with little kids (mom mode activated!), but if you’re dreaming big—like auditions, competitions, or even a career in music—I can help you prep, polish, and network like a pro. Let’s make music exciting, creative, and totally your own!
Natalya Gennadi is a Ukrainian-Canadian soprano and multimedia artist with extensive stage experience and a passion for teaching. Holding a Master’s in Operatic Performance from the University of Toronto, she has performed lead roles with respected opera companies like Tapestry Opera and Pacific Opera Victoria, and was nominated for a Dora Award for her debut. As a dedicated educator, Natalya offers voice lessons that focus on practical skills, confidence, and individual growth. She specializes in Slavic diction and welcomes music students of all backgrounds who want to explore their unique voices in a positive, supportive environment. In addition to voice, Natalya also teaches piano, encouraging students of all skill levels to develop their musical abilities with encouragement and expertise.
